2012 NC Residential Code Will Be Available Online 2/28/12
NCHBA is pleased to report that the 2012 North Carolina Residential Building Code will be posted on-line tomorrow (02/28/12) by 2:00 pm. This new code becomes effective on Thursday (03/01/12).
While the ICC will not have published the code in its traditional book format by Thursday, the on-line version will allow general contractors, code enforcement officials, other industry professionals, and the general public to view the code in its entirety.
Consequently, there is no legal basis to withhold building permits as several jurisdictions have recently threatened to do. NCHBA has been working closely with officials of the NC Department of Insurance, the Governor´s Office, and the leadership of the General Assembly to resolve this impending crisis.
